About the experience:

As a paraprofessional member of the Student Life team, the Student Program Assistant will manage the Office of Student Life’s social media platforms to maintain and improve engagement with our existing audience. The Social Media Paraprofessional will be part of the Office Management Team, which supports office operations, programs and initiatives, as well as, marketing and advertising processes. The role will provide an opportunity to learn new skills and enhance existing ones.

General Responsibilities:

  • Support Student Life initiatives through strategic outreach, marketing, and event management

  • Conduct research of relevant social media trends/campaigns

  • Analyze existing Student Life social media strategies to improve upon them and increase engagement

  • Keep a timely schedule of posts on relevant social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube)

  • Stay informed with Student Life staff to determine what to post and on which platform(s)

  • Update Student Life website as needed

  • Manage the Office’s front desk operations virtually, assisting all clients, and serving as an initial contact for referral to appropriate campus resources

    • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders by providing customer service and  support

    • Checking voicemail and disseminating messages in a timely fashion

  • Assist Student Life professional staff with programming through brainstorming, proposing ideas, and supporting program facilitation

    • Overseeing in-Office creative projects, such as Office comfort and work environment, including accessibility and inclusivity of needs 

  • Other opportunities as assigned/needed

  • External Communications

    • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders through timely email responses and managing social media accounts

    • Update Office Social Media by ensuring relevant, timely and accurate information is posted

  • Signage & Publication (Advertising & Marketing)

    • Oversee student organization and office marketing and advertising projects

  • Operations & Management

    • Update Office Website by ensuring relevant, timely and accurate information is posted

    • Create and update process documents related to Office procedures
