Job Summary

The Lama lab is looking to hire a T32 Research Fellow. Dr. Lama is an endowed professor in the division of pulmonary and critical care medicine and a RO-1 funded investigator in the field of lung repair and fibrosis. The laboratory is unique in that there is cutting edge signaling work done in a translational environment with access to human samples as well as unique animal lung transplant models.  The clinical focus of the research is on understanding mechanism of chronic rejection of the graft after lung transplantation. Lama lab has done pioneering work in describing mesenchymal progenitors in human lungs and describing transcriptional and translational regulation of mesenchymal cell activation in fibrosis. Present ongoing projects include; Role of NK cells and humoral activation in lung chronic rejection; biomarker discovery; characterization of  resident mesenchymal progenitors in adult lungs; epithelial mesenchymal crosstalk. Specfic techniques being utilized  in the lab include CYTOF and single cell RNA seq.

Required Qualifications*

The postdoc will be expected to take a leading role and work closely with the PI in the development and implementation of this research program. Requirements include PhD degree in cell biology, developmental biology, immunology, physiology, or related field, outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to work hard and be flexible in a fast-paced environment, and ability to get along with other lab members. Excellent opportunity for individuals interested in studying stem cells and tissue regeneration.

 

In order to be considered for this position the applicant must have met or will have met all the required qualifications prior to the start date of employment.

Desired Qualifications*

Prior experience with rodents, cell culture, microscopy, RNA/qPCR, western blotting, and flow cytometry would be helpful but is not required. At least one first authored manuscript in a peer-reviewed journal is highly desired.Willing to support transition to academic positions or industry.

This is a 1 year term limited position based on available funding and performance.
