- Function: Assists in research by gathering data, analyzing, administering tests, recording observations, animal behavioral testing and setting up, maintaining and operating laboratory equipment.
- Experience with neurochemistry, brain histology and immunocytochemistry, rodent surgery, stereotaxic surgery, electrophysiology, Matlab and/or LabView desirable.
- Assists with completing lab documentation for inspections and ordering lab supplies and organizing stock of supplies.
- Contribution to Research Design: Performs routine experimental procedures in one or more areas of work under the supervision of higher level research staff. Sets up materials and equipment for course instruction. Helps clean up after experiments.
- Data Analysis: Performs moderately difficult statistical calculations. Assist in routine computer analyses.
- Technical Support: Able to follow directions.
- Literature Search/Writing: Performs library research on specified topics and prepares bibliography.
- Supervision: Supervision from higher level research staff member or faculty member; supervise and train undergraduate students working in the lab for research credit.
- Decision Making: Expected to carefully follow directions.
