Responsibilities*

The Research Lab Tech Intermediate will support the research efforts of the Division of Pediatric Pulmonology. Primary duties include performing small animal work, including breeding transgenic mice and small animal surgeries; performing basic experiments involving ELISA, transient transfection, immunoblotting and reporter assays; washing dishes and autoclaving items.

Required Qualifications*

High School Diploma or Associate's Degree

1-3 years of laboratory experience

Desired Qualifications*

Bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences. Laboratory experience in academic or industry setting. The position requires good organizational and record-keeping skills, reliability, ability to work efficiently, computer skills, and willingness to learn new techniques. Requires the academic knowledge of a health science discipline such as public health, microbiology, biochemistry, anatomy, pathology, nursing, dental hygiene or medical technology, plus the ability to translate, adapt and apply this knowledge that is generally associated with a Bachelor's degree, supplemented by one or more years of progressively responsible experience in the conduct of health science research or an equivalent combination of health science education and experience.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
