The Patient Services Intermediate in the CW Mott Pediatric EEG department provides care navigation/coordination for patients with complex illnesses.
- Patient Navigator guides patients through referral process to scheduling of pediatric eeg studies
- Manage LTM Monitoring Scheduling and Billing process including scheduling work queue and scheduling studies, updating patient monitoring database, insurance verification
- Manage STM and ACR Scheduling and Billing process including scheduling work queue and scheduling studies, updating patient monitoring database, insurance verification
- Appointment Scheduling: accurately and efficiently schedule patients utilizing MiChart. Must be able to match referral with varied appointment types to meet the patient and clinic/provider needs and requirements.
- Able to efficiently navigate MiChart to obtain information needed.
- Respond to and evaluate patient inquiries, resolve disputes including clinic procedures policies and billing issues
- Act as primary resource and point of contact for complicated issues or concerns for staff or providers
- Communication/Telephone Skills:
- Adheres to established telephone management principles.
- Able to efficiently navigate the electronic medical record (MiChart) to obtain information needed.
- Demonstrates good customer service telephone skills.
- Communicates with hospital teams (admitting, EEG techs, Epilepsy service and Pediatric Neurology providers) regarding admissions and changes in schedule
- Communicates with families regarding scheduled studies and changes
- Navigate and respond to inbasket messages to ensure good patient care and smooth clinic flow.

- High School Diploma or GED
- 3-4 years of experience
- Prior experience performing complex scheduling
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Demonstrates active listening, written, verbal and information technology skills
- Experience working within a large, complex, healthcare system
- Familiarity with Michigan Medicine's electronic medical records systems
- Knowledge of University policies & procedures
