The Director of Admissions is a senior member of the Enrollment Management team, reporting directly to the Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management. The Director of Admissions is responsible for leading the development, implementation and assessment of a strategic enrollment plan designed to enroll talented undergraduate and graduate students who will benefit from a University of Michigan-Flint education and meet the University's enrollment goals. Under the direction of the Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management, the Director is responsible for enrolling the desired number of students at the institution while maintaining the necessary academic profile and diversity to insure a globally diverse campus. This will be accomplished through by developing comprehensive recruitment strategies for all UM-Flint markets including undergraduate, international, non-traditional, etc. in conjunction with department associate directors.
The Director will work closely with both administrative and academic departments as well as leadership to strategically create and market new programs in an effort to recruit new populations of students and to ensure a positive student and employee experience.
The Director will work closely with other directors across the enrollment management division to develop plans for implementing strategic recruitment goals, assuring alignment of the goals to the priorities of the division and the university and measuring the progress of the division toward those goals.
It will be the responsibility of the Director to monitor enrollment processes for efficiency and improvement, as well as manage budgetary dollars.
The Director will represents both the institution and department internally as well as externally via written materials, oral presentations, and interviews with the media.
- Master’s degree required.
- 6 or more years of experience in admissions, of which at least 3 are in a management position.
- Expertise in such areas as management and recruitment, including international recruitment.
- Strong data analytic and data presentation skills are required.
- Highly developed staff management and leadership skills, with the ability to lead, develop, and manage multiple high performing teams.
- Demonstrated ability to be agile.
- Strong oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively create content and present in front of large groups.
- Familiarity with a CRM is required.
