Job Summary

A post-doctoral research scholar position is available in the Dept. of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Michigan (USA), under the supervision of Prof. Valeriy Ivanov for the conduct of research in 1) modeling and 2) stormwater management in urbanized watershed systems.

Responsibilities*

The fellow will be responsible for the development of modeling tools for stormwater management issues in an urbanized watershed system using sophisticated physical models of above and below-ground water transport as well as reduced-order models.  The fellow will also work in close communication with teams focusing on real-time data collection and tools for decision-making support. 

Required Qualifications*

Candidates with earned doctorates in civil/hydraulic/hydrologic engineering or computer science disciplines are encouraged.  Research independence, strong written and oral and communication skills, and ability to work with a diverse team of collaborators are needed. Candidates are especially encouraged to apply who, in addition to the above qualifications, have experience with physical hydrologic/fluid dynamics modeling; familiarity with climate projections and/or remote sensing datasets, model calibration, uncertainty quantification, and high-performance computing.

Additional Information
