The University of Michigan has a challenging and rewarding opportunity available for a responsible, organized, and motivated individual in Corpus Christi, TX. Our office is hiring a Research Coordinator as part of a long running stroke and sleep disorder research project. Primary responsibilities for this position may include collecting data from Corpus Christi area hospitals, using personal vehicles to travel to appointments, consenting subjects, interviewing stroke patients, taking patient measurements, applying a sleep monitoring device to patients, and uploading device data. The candidate will also be responsible for entering data collected and making phone calls to schedule assessments.
Abstract health information from participating patient's paper or electronic medical record from area hospitals; enter abstracted data into standard data collection tool.
Approach and recruit patients to to participate in a sleep testing study.
Conduct baseline interviews for participating patients.
Conduct outcome interviews with patients
Schedule participant appointments and conduct phone calls for reminder, scheduling, interview, and data collection purposes (including calling participants throughout the study to ascertain their location (home vs. rehab))
Setup and clean testing device. Manage data collected from the testing device.
Participate in weekly research meetings and communicates routine correspondence in regards to abstraction and interview status
High school graduation or associates degree. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work well with others, ability to follow written instructions, and strong oral and written communication skills are required. Bilingual (Spanish/English) required to serve Spanish-speaking population. The candidate will be expected to work a rotating evening shift, schedule flexibility is required. Weekend, evening, and early morning availability is necessary. Candidates will be required to cross-train in other job duties.
Research experience and/or minimum of 2 years college preferred. Medical chart experience, strong computer skills, and medical terminology are preferred.
This position is located in Corpus Christi, Texas.
