Seeking a postdoctoral fellow to join a dynamic and growing lab focused on lung injury and regeneration.
Our lab is interested in understanding the mechanisms by which the lung epithelium is injured and regenerates after injury. Injury and a failure of epithelial regeneration is thought to drive the development of lung diseases such as pneumonia, pulmonary fibrosis, ARDS, and emphysema. Specifically, we are exploring the mechanisms underlying proliferation and differentiation of alveolar epithelial progenitor cells. We have identified ?-catenin and TGF? signaling as important drivers of alveolar epithelial cell proliferation. We use mouse and cell culture models to study mechanisms. The mouse work involves lineage tracing and inducible cell-specific gene deficient mice, and primary rat and mouse alveolar epithelial cell culture work allows us to further dissect mechanism.

The postdoc will be expected to take a leading role and work closely with the PI in the development and implementation of this research program. Requirements include PhD (completed or near completion) in cell biology, developmental biology, immunology, physiology, or related field, outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to work hard and be flexible in a fast-paced environment, and ability to get along with other lab members.
Prior experience with rodents, cell culture, microscopy, RNA/qPCR, western blotting, and flow cytometry would be helpful but is not required. At least one first authored manuscript in a peer-reviewed journal is highly desired.
