Job Summary

The Aging and Biopsychosocial Innovations Program is part of the Survey Research Center at the Institute for Social Research (ISR). The overall purpose of this research program is to understand how stress and social contexts affect health and the biopsychosocial factors that account for those links. We seek to foster a multidisciplinary collaboration that capitalizes on advances in mobile technology and biopsychosocial methods to gain better understanding of social, psychological and biological factors influencing healthy aging.

In this position, you will work on NIH-funded research projects examining stress and well-being in everyday life. Under supervision, you will screen, assess, and schedule patients for the research projects.  You will also administer the protocol required to train study respondents on how to use study equipment. Responsibilities will also include data collection and maintenance of study records. 


Your responsibilities will include recruiting and screening potential subjects via telephone, face-to-face interactions with local organizations and health care providers, scheduling and obtaining consent from research project participants and coordinating subject participation.

You will conduct in-person baseline interviews and participant training by phone and manage subject records as well as assist with the management of the interviewers.

Additional duties you will perform include preparing and leading interviewer meetings, conducting literature reviews and data analysis. You will also assist with report writing and other tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Cognitive Science, or related field
  • 1 year of related experience or equivalent combination


  • Strong interpersonal skills and flexibility for work with diverse populations and in diverse settings
  • Basic computer skills - word processing, internet searches, spread sheets, elementary statistics
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented with the ability to understand/follow research protocols
  • Experience with recruitment of participants 
  • Experience with interviewing research participants
  • Access to reliable transportation and willingness to travel locally 
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance is required if driving for university business
  • Flexibility in schedule, including weekends and evenings
  • Familiarity with data analysis software (R, SPSS, SAS)

Desired Qualifications*

  • Familiarity with data analysis software (R, SPSS, SAS)
  • Experience with cardiovascular data
  • Experience with Voxco software
