The Department of Radiology at Michigan Medicine of the University of Michigan has an immediate opening for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. The project related to this position is focused on the development of a novel medical image analysis technique for three-dimensional assessment of growth in thoracic aortic aneurysm and dissection. This project is focused on the development and commercialization and is supported by an NIH Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant in collaboration with a medical image analysis software company. Our multi-disciplinary group involves close collaboration between investigators in the Departments of Radiology, Biomedical Engineering, and Cardiac Surgery. The post-doctoral researcher will be involved in the technical development, refinement and validation of key algorithms, and the application of novel analysis tools to analyze a large population of patients with aortic disease at University of Michigan.
The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for: technical development and validation of novel medical image analysis algorithms, database creation and management, supervision of undergraduate/graduate students, advanced data and statistical analysis, presentation & publication of data in research manuscripts.
Ph.D. in the fields of in Computer Science, Mechanical/Biomedical Engineering, Medical Physics, or equivalent field.
Experience with medical image analysis of CT/MRI data
Experience with machine learning/deep learning techniques
Proficiency in Python and MATLAB is required
Experience with deformable image registration
Familiarity with image-based computational modeling in fluid and solid mechanics (FEA, FSI, CFD)
Proficiency in R or other advanced statistical software package.
One-year postdoc with option to renew.
