Job Summary

The Department of Psychiatry is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic individual to provide qualitative research oversight and study coordination for research projects aimed at understanding prescribing practices and improving the quality of medical care delivered to older adults. Candidate will be responsible for: assisting with the development of assessment materials, including interview guides; conducting qualitative interviews and focus groups; helping lead qualitative analysis; helping draft qualitative manuscripts and qualitative sections of funding proposals; supervising study staff, and maintaining regulatory approval and protocol adherence. Demonstrated qualitative research experience is required, including direct experience with IRB-approved research. Additional study tasks may be assigned as needed, such as literature reviews.

Required Qualifications*

  • Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in computer programs including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases is necessary.
  • Must be motivated to learn and capable of both working in a team and functioning independently.

Intermediate:

  • Master's degree in social science, health, education, or related field
  • 4-5 years of research related experience, including in qualitative data collection and analysis.

Associate:

  • Bachelor's degree in social science, health, education, or related field (Master preferred)
  • 1-3 years of research experience, including in qualitative data collection and analysis.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Knowledge of University of Michigan practices and systems is desired.
  • Experience working on a multi-disciplinary team and as a supervisor is desired.
  • A particular interest in working with older adults would be ideal.
