Job Summary

A research laboratory technician position is available in the laboratories of Dr. Peng Li and Dr. Wenjing Wang at the Life Sciences Institute. We are looking for someone with a background in molecular biology and neurobiology to apply novel chemical tools in in vivo mouse model. This position will report directly to Dr. Li and Dr. Wang.

Responsibilities*

 

  • Participate or lead an independent research project to apply novel chemical tools in mouse model;
  • Perform stereotactic surgeries and behavioral assays (e.g. breathing tracing) on mice;
  • Conduct immunofluorescence and confocal imaging;
  • Assist and perform molecular cloning and neuronal cell culture.

Required Qualifications*

  • High School Diploma or Associate's degree
  • Minimum of six months of research laboratory experience
  • Minimum of six months experience in mouse handling
  • Minimum of six months experience in basic molecular biology (e.g., DNA gel electrophoresis and DNA purification)
  • Minimum of two-year commitment 

Desired Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree (or expected graduate) in Biology or related majors (e.g., Neuroscience, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Biochemistry)
  • Minimum of six months experience in the following:
    • Rodent surgeries (e.g., stereotaxic injection)
    • Molecular cloning
    • Rodent behavioral essays
    • Mouse perfusion and tissue harvest
    • Cell culture
    • Cryosectioning
    • Immunofluorescence
    • Confocal imaging
