Job Summary

We are seeking to hire a part-time, temporary Research Assistant to assist with recruitment activities at our participating Sparrow Health System sites in Lansing and Mason. Primary responsibilities include securely handling an audio recording, managing and transferring secure data, and coordinating with Michigan Medicine Study Coordinator and PI. The Research Assistant may also be asked to assist with miscellaneous recruitment activities including but not limited to screening medical records for eligible patients, sending recruitment letters, and screening potential participants over the phone.

Responsibilities*

  • Manage audio recorder and ensure that pre-designated patient-provider encounters are recorded
  • Handle audio recorder and securely transfer data
  • Maintain consistent communication with Study Coordinator regarding data collection, recruitment updates, and issues that arise when collecting data in clinic
  • Assist with miscellaneous recruitment activities including participant outreach and screening as needed

 

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Updated PEERRS (Program for Education and Evaluation in Responsible Research and Scholarship) certification or willingness to obtain certification within one month of hiring
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong communication skills

Desired Qualifications*

  • 1-2 years of research experience
  • Experience with Excel and REDCap
  • Strong writing skills

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
