Nexus is seeking an experienced, talented, and energetic Marketing Communications Specialist to support its marketing and outreach team in planning and executing various communications campaigns through multiple channels to keep the public, the academic/university community, faculty, industry contacts, and other stakeholders informed. This position is responsible for and participates in a wide range of activities. We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, attention to detail, and a dedication to quality and customer service. The position reports to the Assistant Director for Marketing, Operations and Business Development.

Responsibilities*

Marketing Planning & Analytics (35%)

  • Manage marketing projects, plans, and enrollment statuses on a daily basis to guide marketing team activities, in close cooperation with Assistant Director
  • Develop annual campaign planning, including messaging and channel strategy for programs and portfolios
  • Collaborate with marketing team on the planning and implementation of plans to promote the professional and online programs, develop new markets, and increase enrollments
  • Track data and analyze the return of various marketing activities to evaluate their effectiveness and provide recommendations for new approaches
  • Create and manage the digital editorial calendars including web, social, and email marketing publishing schedules, in collaboration with Frontline Marketing Coordinator

Digital Marketing & Content Creation (30%)

  • Create messaging, marketing campaigns, and web content for new and existing programs and faculty resources
  • Collaborate with instructors and industry partners to create shareable value-added content to drive leads, subscribers, and awareness
  • Create and edit news stories and digital content for websites, social media, email marketing, blog posts, digital newsletter, etc. in accordance with the editorial calendar
  • Manage Google Ad campaigns and oversee budget to increase effectiveness and optimize performance, in collaboration with Assistant Director
  • Support Frontline Marketing Coordinator with creating and implementing social media campaigns aimed at increasing awareness, connecting with past and future learners, and improving communications with target audiences

Client Relations & Lead Generation (20%)

  • Generate leads and nurture relationships to increase and diversify participation in programs
  • Attend campus-wide and off-campus events (e.g. conferences, corporate education information sessions, etc.) to promote programs once travel is permitted
  • Generate custom program leads through professional programs, career fairs, receptions, and networking events
  • Coordinate with faculty and company contacts to develop and win custom program proposals
  • Collaborate with Assistant Director to write marketing proposals for professional development programs

Market Research & Portfolio Management (15%)

  • Create market research reports to help inform the decision-making process for new courses and programs
  • Conduct primary and secondary research to analyze the market for new and existing professional courses and programs
  • Make recommendations for updates or additions to program portfolio
  • Assist CoE Graduate Education Marketing Communications Specialist in conducting market research, writing reports, and coordinating external market research projects (if needed) to identify emerging trends and student / industry demand for new engineering programs across the College of Engineering

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication/marketing or related field, liberal arts, business
  • Minimum four years’ communication/marketing experience
  • Demonstrated experience in:
    • Strategy, planning, and execution of digital marketing campaigns in collaboration with a marketing team
    • Developing content, writing, and editing detailed original work for a variety of marketing channels with a focus on digital marketing (website, targeted email, social media, presentations, feature articles) as well as reviewing the communication work of others
    • Website content management
    • Analyzing and creating reports on primary and secondary market research
    • Generating client leads and nurturing custom relationships
    • Paid marketing channels and technologies, including paid search (Google Ads) and social network advertising
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills; demonstrated the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Creative thinker with an analytical ability to use data to inform decisions
  • Proven project management and time management skills with the ability to deliver on time and to follow through on multiple commitments
  • Experience with PowerPoint, Excel, and Google Suite
  • Desire and ability to learn new things, creatively problem solve, and be agile and flexible with change
  • Experience with technology especially related to inbound marketing
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a dynamic team
  • Willing to travel and attend evening events on a regular basis once travel is permitted

  • Higher education marketing experience
  • Familiarity with online and professional education
