Applicants must submit a CV, a transcript showing social sciences coursework and/or training in quantitative analysis, course evaluations for all U-M courses taught, and a reference letter from a faculty member you have taught with previously. If you have no previous teaching experience, a reference letter from your current faculty adviser can be submitted.
GSI position for the following class: (50%)
Duties in these positions include, but are not limited to attending required lectures, teaching assigned labs/discussion sections, participating in weekly staff meetings, holding office hours and providing tutoring, assistance with software/tools/data sets, co-creating and/or grading assignments, participating in QMSS Program activities, and other duties as outlined on the fraction calculation form and by faculty request.
To be appointed as a GSI or GSSA, a graduate student must be in good standing in their degree program and for Terms I and II, must be registered for not less than six (6) credit hours. With written approval of the student's faculty advisor, five (5) credit hours may be acceptable.
Experience in and familiarity with analytic tools, such as Excel, Tableau, Stata, R, Python, etc. is required.
A mastery of quantitative methods in the social sciences, pursuing a graduate degree in a related field, and teaching and/or research experience that will help in teaching courses focused on helping undergraduate students learn how to use common analytical tools along with social science methods used in quantitative analyses.

Decision Making Process
The Director of Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences awards all GSI positions based on stated qualifications, criteria and academic discretion. Priority will be given to LSA doctoral students within their five year funding commitment, with a preference for students pursuing degrees in a social science discipline.
The Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences program hopes to have positions assigned by Wednesday, April 28.
