The Summer Undergraduate Research Experience program (SURE) provides undergraduate students an opportunity to participate in intensive summer research alongside UM-Flint faculty. Funded by the C.S. Mott Foundation, SURE offers faculty up to $5000 per project to employ a student with full-time employment over the course of the summer. Students are paid bi-weekly at an hourly rate negotiated between them and the faculty project sponsor. Salaries range between $12.50 - $15.00 per hour.
SURE positions will ONLY be offered to students who meet the following conditions:
- Candidate must be a UM-Flint undergraduate student
- Candidate MUST have been selected by an awarded SURE faculty mentor
- Candidate must complete a criminal background check and (for currently non-University employed candidates) complete the I-9 employment eligibility process with Human Resources.
- Student can be employed by another University department (excluding UROP). However, additional employment will prevent that student from full-time SURE employment.
Applicants who do not meet these conditions will not be considered.
