Job Summary

  • Dental Assistant who receives and prepares patients for Hospital Dentistry OR and ED patients
  • Prepares work surfaces and materials for use by the Dentist.  Assists at chair-side in the treatment of patients. Performs dental radiography .

Responsibilities*

Assist in a wide variety of chair-side procedures using the principles of four-handed dentistry in the Department of Surgery/ Hospital Dentistry Mott C&W; working with dental students, residents, and faculty. in the OR , ED and inpatient setting. Assist with preliminary health and physicals prior to treatment, take vitals, obtain consents, and prepare patient for treatment. Assist with the treatment and care of orally sedated patients. Assist with medical and/or mentally complex patients. Render immediate medical assistance in emergency medical situations. Provide the patient with postoperative instructions.

Expose and develop radiographs according to standard procedures or specific instructions. Clean, disinfect, and arrange work surfaces, storage cabinets, sinks and dispensing areas. Coordinate the proper maintenance and set-up of dental equipment and operatories. Maintain proper infection control protocols. 

Work closely with OR team to ensure delivery of dental treatment.  Process charge capture

Required Qualifications*

  • Registered or DANBY Certification is required
  • BLS & Radiology Certification is required
  • Reasonable Dental practices and procedures experienced .

Background Screening
