The Metabolomics Biomedical Research Core Facility (BRCF) has an immediate need for a full time temporary laboratory staff member. The Metabolomics Core measures concentrations of small moleucles in biological samples. It strives to provide GLP-quality analytical services while conducting sample preparation, testing and results to research scientisits. The incumbent for this position will be resonsible for handling tissues or biofluids as part of the ongoing testing, analyis and reporting of research grant data.

Perform steps pertaining to sample preparation for metabolomic analysis, including the careful resecting and weighing of frozen tissue samples and homogenization and metabolite extraction from these tissues and other biofluids.
Learn how these samples are analyzed using mass spectrometers and the remaining time analyzing mass spectral data using Agilent Masshunter software and other software tools using a desktop PC.
Bachelor of Science in chemistry or related field
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Windows environment
Good laboratory skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to closely follow a standard operating procedure, carefully note observations and/or deviations from expected results, and routine delivery of accurate, well-curated data is expected. Patience and strength in attention to detail is required.
Good written and verbal communication skills
Graduate students are welcome to apply for this full time position. Understanding of basic statistical methods and some experience using R is desired
