Salary range is determined by the LEO current contract which starts at 51,000 per academic year, SMTD salary range is 51,000 - 70,000.  Higher salary may be considered for exceptional candidate.

Job Summary

ABOUT THE SCHOOL OF MUSIC, THEATRE & DANCE.  As a comprehensive performing arts school set in one of the world’s finest public institutions of higher education, the School of Music, Theatre & Dance (SMTD) is deeply engaged in the creation, practice, scholarship, and pedagogy of music, theatre, and dance. University Productions (UProd) typically presents ten fully-mounted main stage shows each year, serving the departments of Theatre & Drama, Musical Theatre, Dance, and Voice in three different venues. These productions are directed by faculty and guest directors, and crewed by performance and design and production majors. Additional faculty, guests, and BFA students complete the creative production teams. Design & Production majors work as stage managers, shop assistants, and technicians for each production; talented students may design costumes, sets, or lighting for these productions. UProd manages all of the production shops and facilities including an electrics shop, costume shop, prop shop, and two scene shops and paint shops managed by professional staff. Students work in the shops as work study, paid staff, or for credit. 

The Department of Theatre & Drama commits to inquiry and self-assessment, ongoing dialogue, and above all, to actions that will lead to equitable theatre processes.  



In this full time appointment the candidate would teach the following courses each term: Introduction to Technical Theatre (3 credits), Advanced Lighting Design (3 credits), and various Production Practicums (1-2 credits). The candidate will ensure smooth communication with the production shops, production management office, and faculty. Occasional duties such as advising student technicians and designers, customary meetings, assistance with recruiting, and participation in our annual portfolio review may be assigned as mutually agreed upon.  

This is a one to two year position.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Terminal degree 
  • Experience with on-line learning environments 
  • Advanced ability to use and teach Vectorworks
