We are seeking a dynamic research lab tech senior with 2-5+ years in lab experience. The lab tech will assist postdocs in the lab with some of their experiments, may work on an independent project and will share publications. The lab performs standard molecular biology and genomic work related to various hematological cancer-related projects and currently no animal work. In addition, the lab tech will perform lab ordering and general lab support and serve as the lab manager. Some flexibility in work hours is required. Function as a technical advisor on components of the research
Will develop, design and conduct experiments on primary lymphoma and leukemia samples including purification, ex vivo cell kill assays, ex vivo culture optimization, ex vivo surface immunoglobulin stimulation and multi panel immunoblotting. Will assist with gene expression studies in cell lines of genes of interest and cell and molecular biology follow up experimentations as guided by gene function.
Maintain the sample databases and will assist with work-up of lymphoma and leukemia biospecimens.
Will work with outside organizations and other departments acquiring samples, data and information
Lab management Functions
Train and orient temporary lab staff and students in the lab in the practice of science, use of modern equipment and application of current technology.
Monitor lab staff attendance and compliance with research protocols and safe laboratory practices.
Responsible for all lab orders: researching available equipment/instruments, contacting vendors/procurement for pricing, processing and receive all lab orders.
Maintain lab records and develop, disseminate and execute lab policies.
Maintain and run equipment/instruments making sure they are operating according to specifications and arranging any necessary maintenance on them
Maintain essential lab stocks and reagents
Will setup and participate in weekly lab meetings
Bachelor's Degree is required with 2-5+ years of experience in a related field.
This job requires the ability to work efficiently, the ability to follow instructions, and maintenance of a reliable work schedule. Other requirements include excellent oral and written communication skills, effective judgment and problem solving and a willingness to work within a group. A successful candidate will be committed to academic biomedical research. Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage time are important skills for this position.
