Assist in a wide variety of chairside procedures using the principles of four handed dentistry in graduate and preedoctoral orthodontics. Assist and provide guidance to the providers with oral examinations, charting and operative procedures. Assist graduate orthodontic residents in the Craniofacial clinic one morning per week. Provide treatment to a compromised and complex patient population. Assist with oral examination, charting and operative procedures. Stock and maintain cubicles, prepare instruments for sterilization. Prepare instruments and materials for used by the dentist. Enter patient data into the computer system as needed. Expose and process radiographs. Assist at the front desk as needed in pulling charts, checking patients in for appointments, and perform additional clinic duties as assigned. Follow current infection control standards pertaining to OSHA and HIPPA guidelines.
A certificate of completion from an accredited dental assisting program or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be CPR certified and have radiography certification. Excellent communication skills. Excellent attendance record. Excellent ability to multi-task. Excellent attention to detail. Excellent organizational skills.
An Associates degree in dental assisting and a CDA and/or RDA certification.Experience with School of Dentistry polices and MiDent software desired. Knowledge of orthodontic dental procedures. Experience working with medically compromised, complex patient population.
