Highly motivated individual sought for a Research Laboratory Specialist Associate position in the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at the University of Michigan. The position is with the Laboratory of Integrated Brain Imaging (https://libi.engin.umich.edu). The primary responsibility is to prepare rats and mice for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) using a 7 Tesla MRI system in the Engineering Preclinical Imaging Center (https://epic.bme.umich.edu). The selected candidate will work closely with Dr. Zhongming Liu on NIH-funded projects that use MRI to image the brain, the stomach, and their interactions. Contact: email@example.com
**This is a one year term-limited position with the possibility of extension based upon need and funding.
- Perform routine care and handling of rats and mice
- Perform behavioral training or testing for rats and mice
- Perform animal preparation for magnetic resonance imaging or electrophysiology
- Perform animal surgery and post-surgical care
- Facilitate animal research by the faculty, students, and postdocs in the lab
- Bachelor's degree in a biological, engineering, or veterinary science
- Exceptional work ethic
- Good communication skills
- At least two years of experience with animal handling and care
- Ideally but not necessarily, prior experience with
- animal surgery
- animal electrophysiology (neurophysiology, gastroenterology)
- animal behavioral experiments
