The Director of the Adolescent Health Initiative is responsible for leading a dynamic team to realize AHI’s vision to transform the health care landscape to optimize adolescent and young adult health and well-being. In this role, the Director provides leadership in support of AHI’s department staffing, finances, and services. This position provides direct supervision to AHI’s senior management team in order to support the generation of creative grants, projects, programs, and events that advance the organizational mission and vision in addition to cultivating and managing new business opportunities including grants and contracts. An ideal candidate has a strong sense of vision and the skills to continue to grow AHI’s program, services, and events. What You'll Do
In collaboration with AHI’s Program and Marketing teams, the Director supports the development and delivery of innovation programs, trainings, and capacity-building assistance services for state health departments, adolescent health coordinators, and health care providers across more than 44 states. The Director also supports the marketing and event team, including the development and delivery of the Annual Conference on Adolescent Health, a nationally recognized event reaching a growing international audience of over 500 health care professionals . The Director is responsible for continuing to cultivate a team culture that is committed to AHI’s core values of Collaboration, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Expertise, Innovation, Quality, and Responsiveness. An ideal candidate will have the skills to support and strengthen AHI’s current work centered on racial and social justice. The Director represents AHI as member of national collaborations, adolescent health advisory committees, and at national conferences and events.
The AHI Director also serves as an active member of the Community Health Services (CHS) leadership team at Michigan Medicine, helping to advance the CHS mission and increase the internal and external visibility of all CHS programs. The Director should possess strong organizational and communication skills and enjoy working as part of a dynamic interdisciplinary team.

Provide leadership to carry out AHI mission and vision

Master’s degree in public health, healthcare administration, public administration, social work or related field
5-8 years of experience in a healthcare setting, community-based organization, or health department
3-5 years of supervision experience
Demonstrated ability to manage collaborative partnerships
Demonstrated ability to achieve grant deliverables on time and on budget
Demonstrated ability to secure new business or funding opportunities
Expertise in adolescent primary care, sexual health, or mental health
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience working with diverse communities (this includes but is not limited to working with youth of color, LGBTQ+ youth, youth living in rural communities, etc.)
Ability to participate in national travel 3-5 times per year once institutionally allowable
Experience in the field of adolescent health
Experience in the fields of health equity and racial justice, specifically work prioritizing and centering marginalized identities
Experience with conference or event development
Experience overseeing steering committees or advisory boards
Experience with data collection, evaluation, or quality improvement initiatives
Experience with quality improvement initiatives in healthcare settings
