The Office of the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education ( has the primary responsibility for education for the College of Engineering’s undergraduate students. Our work spans four key areas: Preeminent Engineering Education, Experiential Learning, Academic Innovation, and Academic Opportunities for All.  Through our First Year Programs (, a variety of courses, programs, and resources are available to first-year engineering students to connect to the College community, explore academic programs, and chart a path to success.


The individual in this position will report to and work closely with the First-Year Programs Manager to support the Engineering Division courses and in particular the First Year Program, as follows:

1.Support instructional team for ENGR 110: track completion of undergraduate teaching assistants’ weekly requirements, monitor requests for excused absences and notify instructional team; assist students with special course related requests; provide students with course related materials; assist with training preparation and coordination; support course related events. (50%)

2. Manage Engineering Division Courses with a focus on ENGR 110: utilize purchasing card to order supplies for courses and course related events; order teaching evaluations, provide evaluation reports to various parties; manage enrollment including overrides; update course schedules and instructor information; provide other logistical support for courses and course staff. (20%)

3. Process HR documents for Engineering Division course staff including Lecturers, Graduate Student Instructors, Instructional Aides and Graders; manage confidential records related to their employment; create and manage applications and forms to collect information; coordinate interviews; prepare offer paperwork. (10%)

4. Collect and maintain data for ad hoc reports pertaining to Engineering courses and faculty, enrollment patterns, evaluations, and grading. Prepare or oversee the preparation of special and periodic reports to management. (10%)

5. Perform other job duties as assigned and provide special support for the office of Undergraduate Education as required for the development of new programs. (10%)

Required Qualifications*

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Three to five years' experience in higher education; strong computer skills including Excel and Google Workspace. Knowledge of issues pertaining to curriculum and undergraduate education.  Proven strong communication and organization skills; high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in all areas; evidence of administrative independence and judgment.  Proven ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment; ability to work in a team environment and independently.

Desired Qualifications*

Experience using M-Pathways and Business Objects for retrieval of student and course data.  Web maintenance experience preferred.  Reasonable knowledge of University and College of Engineering policies, rules and regulations.

Work Locations

Following the Michigan Engineering Staff Telecommuting and Related Resources policies, this position os envisioned as either an On-Site or Flex position with a shared work space.
