Obtain and update authorizations for surgery by phone, fax and mail. Obtain clinical records and maintain patient database. CPT and ICD-10 coding. Coordinate care with other departments. Utilize clinical systems including MiChart and MiDent. Communicate coordination with faculty and staff. Triage referrals and schedule appointments appropriately. Obtain insurance information, explain workflow and verify demographics. Resolve patient issues including billing issues, referrals and retroactive authorizations. Miscellaneous duties as assigned such as imaging documents to MiChart and MiDent and various clerical duties.
High School Diploma or GED, 2 -3 years of experience. General knowledge of office practices and obtaining medical records. Excellent customer service skills, exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as a team player with ability to take direction and communicate with team and patients courteously and respectfully at all times. Demonstrated excellent communication skills and information technology skills. Energetic individual, motivated with a positive and professional attitude with an excellent ability to multi-task and work in a high volume area. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent attention to detail. Excellent attendance record. Flexibility required in all aspects of work assignments
Experience working within a large, complex health care setting, familiarity with MiChart or MiDent, and knowledge of University policies and procedures.
Michigan Medicine Med INN
This is a 24 hour per week position.
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
Job openings are posted for a minimum of seven calendar days. The review and selection process may begin as early as the eighth day after posting. This opening may be removed from posting boards and filled anytime after the minimum posting period has ended.
