What You'll Do

A stewardship officer on the Stewardship and Donor Relations team, reporting to the Associate Director, Stewardship Recognition and Acknowledgments. You'll produce personalized correspondence from the university president to individual, corporate and foundation donors. You'll assist with communication from university leadership for custom reports and other communications to donors, volunteers and alumni.

  • Liaison with the UM President's Office

  • Create and oversee the production of the President's acknowledgements

  • Work with development staff across the university to complete special correspondence requests and determine strategies for donor correspondence

  • Research circumstances of donor gifts using web-based and internal systems

  • Review and rewrite templates and maintain a correspondence template system

Required Qualifications*

  • A Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism or related field or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

  • Considerable knowledge of style, principles, practices, and techniques of writing, proofreading, and editing.

  • Demonstrated skill and ability to create effective written communication materials.

  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communications skills.

  • Detail oriented, strong communication skills and a great degree of comfort adapting to changing systems and methodologies.

  • 3-5 years writing in a professional environment

Desired Qualifications*

1-3 years professional experience in a fundraising environment.
