Job Summary

The Burness Lab at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor is recruiting a post-doctoral research fellow for projects focused on therapeutic targeting of cancer stem cells in breast cancer. Our lab is dedicated to developing novel therapies targeting cancer stem cells. Current projects focus on mechanisms of DNA repair and epigenetic alterations in cancer stem cells.

Responsibilities*

  • Perform cancer stem cell assays, immunofluorescence imaging, RNAseq at the bulk and single cell level, and murine xenograft studies
  • Conduct research independently under the supervision of the PI, including independently planning, designing, and completing research studies.
  • Maintain accurate records of research findings and the analysis of results.
  • Prepare manuscripts in collaboration with project personnel
  • Dissemination of results at professional meetings, presentations, and publications.
  • Mentor graduate students as appropriate.

Required Qualifications*

An M.D. and/or Ph.D. in a biological science discipline is required.  Candidates are expected to conduct research independently under the supervision of the PI, including independently planning, designing, and completing research studies. Applicants must be fluent in spoken and written English, have excellent oral and written communication skills, and be able to prepare initial drafts of scientific manuscripts.

Desired Qualifications*

Experience with mice, proficiency in cellular/molecular biology techniques, and a solid background in molecular biology/biochemistry, tumor biology and/or immunology are preferred.
