This position is being created to manage a research database for adult hematological cancers (HemCaRe Database: Hematological Cancer Research Database). This retrospective database is maintained for research related activities of the faculty and staff interested in hematological malignancies.

The Research Assistant will be expected to perform the following functions with diminishing oversight of senior members of the Hematological Malignancies Database management team/assigned mentor: Abstract data from electronic medical records and enter in to other databases such as RedCap. Acquire proficiency in database management and demonstrate ability to learn and implement acquired knowledge. Communicate clearly and adhere to timelines for data entry. Cooperate and support the team for achieving milestones in the HemCaRe Database. Identify and addresses discrepancies in the data collection process.
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in experience. Reasonable knowledge of Medical Terminology. Proficient user of Microsoft office applications.
Previous experience in Health Sciences/Healthcare. Previous data management experience a plus. Experience with MiChart and extremely comfortable with navigating the University of Michigan Health System electronic health records. Reasonable knowledge of University Health System policies and procedures. PEERS certification and HIPAA training a plus. Previous knowledge of hematological malignancies a plus.
This is a good position for medical school aspirants who want to take a gap year.
