Job Summary

This position supports the recruitment of high-quality applicants to the College of Engineering’s MEng, DEng, certificate, and Rackham graduate programs by supporting prospective students and departments with administrative processes related to admissions applications.

45% Admission Processing

  • Serve as CollegeNet main point of contact; submit changes for CoE departments 

  • Enter admissions decisions and generate admission and enrollment information letters for admitted students for each of the CoE departments to send

  • Manage processing student visas for incoming international students.  This includes communication with admitted students to obtain necessary visa materials, submitting documentation to the International Center for processing, and disbursement of documents to students once complete.

  • Collect transcripts centrally and distribute to departments for processing of complete application packages

45% - International Transcript Evaluation

  • Participate in interactive training with Rackham Graduate School liaison 

  • Identify and process international transcripts upon submission into admissions system

  • Assign proper course credit to matching equivalencies and accurately analyze values for classes utilizing Rackham Graduate School’s evaluation policy

  • Enter data into admissions system in an accurate and timely manner

  • Provide regular updates on status of the evaluation of international transcripts for graduate departments

10% Administrative Support

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Support CoE’s Office of Student Affairs with ad hoc graduate admissions  projects

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in education, business administration, management, social science, or related field

  • Demonstrated experience in university student services activities, admissions and registration processes, on-campus and online education modes, policy compliance, and academic administration activities

  • Demonstrated strong ability to exercise professionalism, handle highly confidential and sensitive information, and use sound judgement, diplomacy, and discretion in all actions

  • Excellent project management, organizational, analytical, creative, and critical thinking skills involving multi-faceted initiatives, with a demonstrated ability to successfully meet stated goals and adjust for changing needs and priorities

  • Demonstrated excellent communication, interpersonal, listening, and networking skills that show the ability to interact effectively and diplomatically with all levels of participants, partners, and audiences

  • Demonstrated skills in multitasking, prioritizing, problem-solving, decision-making, accuracy, detail-oriented, anticipating needs, tracking milestones, and meeting deadlines

  • Demonstrated strong collaborative working style with the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team in a flexible, dynamic environment, and a strong work ethic that contributes to an innovative and positive work environment

  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google applications (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs), Adobe Suite, and other business and communication tools and systems in a PC environment

Desired Qualifications*

  • Proficiency in university systems such as Oracle Peoplesoft (MPathways) or similar tools

  • An awareness of engineering fields is desirable

  • Knowledge of University policies, systems, and procedures

  • Familiarity with I-20s and visa application processes

Additional Information

This position is primarily remote, with some need to be on the Ann Arbor campus on ocassion to collect I-20 documents and organize/deliver transcripts.
