Job Summary

We seek an experienced research scientist to anchor the lab of a young investigator, willing to take on independent research tasks and manage the lab enterprise. The employee will work closely with the PI on designing experiments, analyzing data, and learning new techniques. Career development for the employee is a strong focus of the PI, and highly advanced candidates have the opportunity to progress to a Research Investigator down the line if they desire. While there is an expectation the candidate will help independently run the lab enterprise, the lab strives to be nurturing and the PI is committed to being as available as lab members need.

We work on research related to the leading cause of blindness in the US, macular degeneration. The lab primarily focuses on experiments using primary and induced pluripotent stem cell cultures of the layer of the retina most affected in this disease, the retinal pigment epithelium. Some animal work will take place in the future, but is not a major component of the lab's work.
