Job Summary

The Information Assurance: Michigan Medicine (IA:MM) team was established to protect systems, data, and identities that Michigan Medicine relies upon. The team educates and prepares staff and students for increasing cyber threats, and proactively mitigates IT security risks in partnership with the greater U-M community. The IA:MM team enables teaching, learning, research, and healthcare in a large, open environment by helping to balance risks and threats. IA:MM collaborates and coordinates with university efforts and participates in the development of university-wide security, compliance, and privacy strategies and strives to implement best practice cybersecurity efforts.

The University of Michigan's Information Assurance team at Michigan Medicine (IA:MM) is looking for a Program Coordinator.  You will report to the manager of the Program Office, which is one of four units within IA:MM.  All four units of IA:MM report to the Chief Information Security Officer of Michigan Medicine. 

We promote a shared responsibility for safeguarding our data and systems. We communicate to multiple groups about a variety of cybersecurity, process and compliance topics.  You help IA:MM maintain consistent and transparent internal processes so our partners know what to expect when they work with us.  You manage internal processes, coordinating with your colleagues to ensure that process documentation is up to date and that our process timelines are met.

Support IA:MM’s centralized processes .  Ensure consistency and transparency by:

  • Manage periodic review and updates for key IA:MM process and governance documents
  • Coordinate with your colleagues to manage the cadence of a handful of IA:MM’s internal processes,
  • Prepare surveys as needed,
  • Prepare communications to our partners for engagement and awareness, and

You’ll coordinate with your colleagues to ensure that our processes are up to date, consistently applied, and easy for our partners to follow. 

Required Qualifications*

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience completing multiple tasks simultaneously & finalizing work on a deadline.
  • Experience adapting to a changing environment, and experience working effectively both independently and within a team.
  • Ability to communicate clearly to different audiences.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including managing detailed Excel spreadsheets, and creating presentations with PowerPoint, Visio, and Word.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field and/or equivalent combination of education, certification and experience.
  • Experience working in an academic healthcare environment.
  • 2 years of demonstrated experience in a relevant position or field.
  • Experience with SharePoint or similar web-based applications.
  • Experience with ServiceNow or other ticket management system.
  • Experience with Cloud platforms such as Google Drive and Box.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
