Job Summary

The University of Michigan Law School is hiring an enthusiastic and energetic Summer Academic Programs Director to administer two start-up summer programs with the collaboration and support of other relevant Law School units. Both of the summer programs – one a one summer concentrated master’s degree in corporate and securities law and the other a certificate program in the same subject area -- are new in U.S. legal education and provide the opportunity to work on the forefront of innovation in this area. One summer program results in a University of Michigan Masters of Advanced Corporation Law for lawyers already in practice from the U.S. and abroad. The other summer program results in a Certificate of Global Legal Practice in the same subject area and for the same students.

Responsibilities*

Oversee the promotion, recruitment, admisssions, and direction of the Masters of Advanced Corporation Law and the Certificate of Global Legal Practice programs. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, collaborating with the programs’ faculty academic director and other Law School faculty and staff to coordinate program details such as the recruitment, application and admission processes, marketing and creation of web media, academic calendar, registration processes, student orientation, course offerings and course schedules, extra-curricular events, student housing, classroom space , graduation events, alumni network development, career direction, and diploma and certificate delivery. In addition, the Summer Academic Programs Director will be expected to communicate and develop relationships with prospective and enrolled students, program alumni, individuals and institutions in targeted market areas worldwide, and University of Michigan units across campus.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Experience in a large university
  • Experience in a U.S. law school or a JD or LL.M degree
  • Experience in corporate or securities law practice in the U.S.
  • Experience abroad
  • Facility with a second language
