Provides a wide variety of moderately complex to complex technical lab support, individually and/or together with other lab members. Experimental procedures include cell culture, cloning, RNA isolation & qPCR, protein isolation & immunoblot, genotyping, flow cytometry, and other miscellaneous cell and molecular biology techniques.
Responsible for helping set up lab, maintaining lab supplies, ordering lab supplies, and lab safety under leadership from PI and senior research staff.
Responsible for helping in the maintenance, crossing, and documentation of the lab mouse colony, and helping perform surgical procedures with the senior research staff.
Maintain detailed records of all experiments and data, uploading to online lab servers and lab notebooks. Conducts analysis of data, interprets and implements research methodology, with the supervision of PI and/or senior research staff.
The applicant must have a high school diploma or associates degree, and at least one year of biomedical research experience (which could be during college). The candidate should be excited to ask questions, think critically, and have fun doing science. They should also be prepared to work closely with the PI initially to establish and set up the lab. This will require having the ability to be organized, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic about multi-tasking. Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must be efficient, effective, and able to problem solve and resolve conflicts. Excellent attention to detail and excellent ability to multitask.Excellent attendance record and organizational skills.
Knowledge of University of Michigan policies and procedures. Knowledge of School of Dentistry policies and procedures. Research experience in cell culture, animal work, molecular work and/or biochemistry analysis. Would prefer an applicant that is willing to work with mice, as a small part of the job duties.

This is a 1-year term appointment with the likelihood of renewal following the initial year.
