  • Daily MPU billing
    • Review encounters
    • Confirm accuracy of data entry batches
    • Forward documentation to medical records
    • Resolve edits in work queues
  • Daily OR billing
    • Obtain and evaluate patient procedure information to facilitate the billing and collection process.
    • Respond to complex billing and collections, financial, or operation inquiries from patients, third parties, vendors, and other customers
    • Applies advanced skills in performance of critical and complex billing-related functions
    • Forward documentation to medical records
  • Work on daily auditing of cases and back fix any cases that were not complete documentation
  • Assist with auditing all off-site locations (EAA, BCSC, KEC)
  • Communicate with Nurse Managers to resolve documentation issues
  • Research patient accounts as required
  • Communicate with hospital/professional billing staff to resolve issues
  • Provide financial counseling to self-pay patients as needed
  • Maintain internal billing records
  • Enhanced analytical skills

Required Qualifications*

  • 4 years of billing experience + 1 year customer service experience
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work independently
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent attendance record

Desired Qualifications*

  • Experience in medical insurance claims and reimbursement
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
