Job Summary

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Von Voigtlander Women’s Clinic provides consultation, comprehensive treatment and a broad range of services and procedures for patients with normal and high-risk pregnancies and for a broad range of gynecologic services.  The clinic team includes physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, medical assistants, social workers, dieticians, as well as a multifunctional administrative/clerical team.

Provide nursing care to patients and families in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Specialties clinic.

Work with the clinical team in a clinic setting and support procedures that may require sedation support.
At least 50% of assignment may be telephone triage at the Call Center.
Provide nursing care in collaboration with physicians and advanced practice providers in the clinic and via telephone triage to support efficient and effective management of patients.
May order tests, renew prescriptions by protocols, inform patients of test results, relay changes to a plan of care, educate, handle emergent/urgent situations in clinic, etc.
Provide patient and family education.
Participate in quality improvement /LEAN thinking to improve workflow and processes. 

* Note: May be required to assist with therapeutic pregnancy terminations.

Salary & Nursing Framework Level:
This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C.
Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level F.

Salary range for Registered Nurses- $69,849.91 - $108,327.09

  • Evening Shift Differential- $2.55 per hour
  • Night Shift Differential- $3.40 per hour
  • Weekend Differential- $1.75 per hour


Required Qualifications*

  • Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Michigan. 
  • Two (2) or more years of gynecologic surgical RN experience. Must has been in the last five (5)years

Desired Qualifications*

One or more years of ambulatory care experience.
Demonstrated experience with telephone triage
Demonstrated experience with IV sedation (Completion of UMHHC IV sedation competency desired)
Demonstrated ability to plan care pre and post-operatively with a multidisciplinary team.

Work Schedule

Hours:  36 hours per week  (0.9 FTE)
Shift/Days/Hours: Monday through Friday, days, with variable start times that may include rotated extended hours and ½ day on Saturday in the future. 
Location: OB/GYN Clinic - Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital and the offsite OB/Gyn Call Center at the NCAC building
NOTE: All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U-M Professional Nurse Council union, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
