Summary

The School of Education at the University of Michigan seeks to appoint a Research Technician Intermediate in GRIP Lab.

The GRIP Lab (https://www.gripumich.org/) is an education research group directed by Pat Herbst at the University of Michigan School of Education, focusing on research and development projects in mathematics education and technology. We seek a Research Technician Intermediate, a responsible, organized, and motivated individual interested in pursuing educational research,  to assist us with data collection and analysis, with data management tasks, and technical writing and editing. 

 The Research Technician Intermediate will work collaboratively with GRIP Lab researchers and contribute to various GRIP Lab research projects. Preference will be given to applicants with K-12 teaching and education research experiences. The successful candidate will be expected to support survey development in Qualtrics, course development in Canvas, data archiving, resource development, and other research activities.

Responsibilities*

  • Contributing to the adaptation and design of online teacher professional development curriculum materials in Canvas.

  • Assisting with data collection.

  • Assisting with the GRIP Lab research data management, cataloging, and archiving.

  •  Drafting and editing manuscripts.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

  • Completed an accredited teacher preparation program at a Bachelor’s degree level.

  • Experience with data collection, qualitative data analysis methods, and report writing.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work both in a team environment and independently.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Teaching experience

  • Familiarity with the Canvas online course environment and its tools

  • Experience with creating surveys in Qualtrics  

Additional Information

We will begin reviewing applications on May 20 and will continue until the position is filled.

The position will start in July, 2022. This is a 12 month position. There may be opportunities to renew the position for more than one year depending on funding/work availability and performance.
