Scenery Shop Internship (Work Study or Student Temporary)

Summary

All UM-Flint students welcome to apply, preference will be given to current Theatre Design and Technology majors. 

The Department of Theatre and Dance considers these temporary part-time positions to be internships. Students will be working on actual shows and getting real, industry quality hands-on experience while being supervised by professionals. Experiences like these can be listed on a resume for future jobs and graduate school applications, and are considered an important part of what it means to be a successful theatre and/or dance major. Hours vary with production and rental events, schedule maybe 0-20 hours per week.

Responsibilities*

Opportunity to work in areas of wood and metal working, stage lighting and sound, painting, and/or duties related to theatre set construction.

Provide lighting, sound and staging for campus and rental events held in the theatre. 

Required Qualifications*

Must be a UM-Flint student

Must be available evenings and weekends. Scenery Shop is in production during business hours, events are usually evenings and weekends

Basic carpentry experience or lighting and audio experience helpful

Required:Students must be able to lift at least 50 pounds; additionally, this job requires applicants to climb both stairs and ladders. For additional information, please contact Doug Mueller, dmueller@umich.edu
