This position is a member of the CEW+ Development, Marketing and Communication Team and reports to the CEW+ Director.  This position will fundraise for CEW+ and 1-2 other Provost Office units currently partnered with CEW+ in some aspect of work.  This position is a full time, benefits eligible, 2-year term limited position with the possibility to extend based on available funding and satisfactory performance.  All CEW+ staff members are eligible to work from home for a portion of their schedule. The CEW+ office is fully remote on Mondays and all staff are on-site on Tuesdays.   After successfully completing 3 months of onboarding, an assessment will be completed to determine eligibility for working from home more than 1 day per week.

Responsibilities*

Fundraising, Stewardship and Building Donor Relationships
Support 2-3 Provost Office units prospecting and soliciting gifts $50K and higher, managing a portfolio of approximately 50 current donors and 100 prospects

Lead a comprehensive and coordinated development program for all levels of donors from engagement and cultivation through to solicitation and stewarding

Manage and oversee the stewardship program with the development team to produce impact reports and thank you letters including information on the awarding of funds to be shared internally and externally

Design meaningful interactions for new and existing donors

Leadership & Supervision
Make hiring decisions, supervise, set work priorities and conduct annual evaluations for CEW+ Development and Marketing staff, approximately 3 full time staff

Supervise temporary and student staff as applicable

Strategic Planning & Building Campus Relationships
Collaborate with the Directors and senior leadership to define and implement an overarching advancement strategy by unit

Build strategic development goals that align with the vision of each unit and plan comprehensive campaign

Set strategies, evaluate and report on efforts and outcomes of development activities and make appropriate revisions

Work in collaboration with CEW+ marketing and communication staff to set external communications strategy and generate content ideas

Participate in campus wide development committees and trainings and network with development colleagues

Event Planning & Management
Develop celebration plans for upcoming centerwide and program anniversaries

Engage with staff, center leadership and major donors to inform and finalize plans

Manage temporary staff to carry out event plans and logistics
 

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years experience in major gift fundraising
  • 3+ years supervisory experience
  • Event Management experience
  • Experience managing or being involved with and informing external marketing & communication efforts for a unit, company or non-profit organization
  • Knowledge of database systems. The successful applicant will be expected to learn the U-M development and alumni relations database (DART).
