Summary
This job opening is for Unit-Based Temporary RN positions in Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT PACU) unit.
* Please note that these positions do not qualify for UMHS benefits and specific terms and conditions of employment are negotiated at the department level.
These positions are not covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Michigan and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U of M Professional Nurse Council.
* In addition:
Unit- based temporary employees who have worked 400 hours in a calendar year then become a Per Diem employee and have an obligation to pay dues or service fees as covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Michigan and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U of M Professional Nurse Council.
* Once the employee meets the 400 hour threshold, they then are a union member for the duration of employment as Per Diem.
Temporary APRN employees and MVC temporary employees are not eligible for Per Diem status.

Responsibilities*
Provide expert nursing care to Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) patients.
Conduct and document Outpatient ECT Assessments and work in the ECT PACU.

Required Qualifications*
- Current RN license to practice nursing in the state of Michigan.
- ACLS Certification
- Experience with psychiatric patients in one or more of the following settings: inpatient psych, outpatient psych, palliative care, or ED.
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate the clinical care needs of complex patients

Desired Qualifications*
- Recent Inpatient Psychiatric experience
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate the clinical care needs of psychiatric complex patients
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate the clinical care needs of psychiatric complex patients
- Recent (in the last 1 year) experience in the ECT PACU
- Recent experience completing ECT Assessments
- Experience in the utilization of Crisis Intervention Prevention (CPI).
- Demonstrated knowledge of cognitive behavioral treatment of depression and other psychiatric disorders.
- Demonstrated excellence in communication skills.
Work Schedule
Hours/Week: Actual Hours will vary
Shift: Day shift; Monday through Friday, no weekends.
