Responsibilities*
Provide administrative and managerial support to the Assistant Director of the Environmental Services Department. Responsible for planning and overseeing the work of the Environmental Services (EVS) Supervisor Team, with a particular focus on the afternoon shift.
Key responsibilities include conducting daily facility walk-throughs, performing quality inspections, and completing detailed reports. Participate in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of services provided by Environmental Services.
Assist in guiding housekeeping and waste management operations across University Health System, covering all three shifts, seven days a week. The ideal candidate will be service-minded and possess strong interpersonal skills to engage in committees, groups, and activities related to their areas of oversight.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Managing the dayshift EVS Supervisor Team.
- Monitoring productivity and efficiency of supervisors and frontline staff.
- Supporting supervisors on service and performance-related issues.
- Assisting with budgeting, scheduling, inventory control, and process improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
- Reasonable progressively responsible management experience in labor intensive support services is necessary.
- Knowledge of housekeeping standards, procedures and methods.
- Excellent coaching, communications and employee skills.
Desired Qualifications*
- Considerable experience in managing Environmental Services, Bed Tracking, Facilities Management, Quality Assurance Program or related functions in a large hospital and health care environment.
- A demonstrated record of successful support to health care operations, including exceptional customer services and quality improvement skills.
- Thorough knowledge of JCAHO, OSHA and other regulatory agency requirements.
- Some experience in managing employees in a unionized setting is desirable.

This position is Days / Monday-Friday/ 8:00am-4:30pm

Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
