The 2-story facility is located at the corner of 7 Mile and Haggerty in Northville Township. Responsibilities*
The Medical Assistant will work as part of a musculoskeletal multidisciplinary team caring for adult and pediatric patients with joint, bone, and muscle conditions in a fast-paced outpatient setting. This role provides exceptional customer service to patients and families by performing clinical processes that support efficient patient flow. Responsibilities include patient intake, information gathering, direct patient care, data entry, preparation for exams and procedures, medication administration, clinical support to providers, patient follow-up, and prescription management. The MA will obtain vital signs; perform injections, assist with in clinic procedures, and EKGs; apply, adjust, and remove casts, splints, and braces; assist with or perform simple diagnostic tests and procedures; collect specimens; and clean and clean equipment. Additional duties include operating and monitoring patient care equipment, setting up instruments and supplies in exam and treatment rooms, maintaining stock and maintain patient care areas, providing patient instructions as directed, and completing related administrative tasks and in-basket to support overall clinic operations.
Required Qualifications*
- High school diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology,
- Moderate standing/walking, as well as lifting, positioning, and/or transferring patients.
Associate
- 1-3 years of experience
Assistant
- 0-1 years of experience
Desired Qualifications*
- Experience within an ambulatory setting and/or working within a large, complex health care setting
- Experience with applying, adjusting, and removing casts, splints, and braces
- Experience with an electronic medical record
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant
- Experience with Adult Patients
- Experience working within a large, complex health care setting.
- Individual must exhibit a professional and positive image when interacting with patients, faculty and staff.
- They must also adhere to a high standard of personal and professional conduct; possess excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills; and demonstrate ability to interact with a diverse population.
- Candidates must be able to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team, handling multiple responsibilities in a fast paced environment.
- Candidate must demonstrate problem solving skills, proficient computer and keyboarding skills, and excellent attendance.
- Must demonstrate active listening, written, verbal and information technology skills.
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday with some evening shifts and rotating Saturdays

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
