University of Michigan Cardiovascular Medicine at Dominos Farms

Provide clinical assistance by assisting patients and providers. Perform general support services within the Cardiovascular Medicine department within Dominos Farms outpatient cardiology clinics.

Responsibilities*

  • Perform efficient and accurate intake on patients, including proper medication reconciliation, allergy and social history review, and take vttal signs. 
  • Monitor and promote clinic flow by rooming patients. 
  • Perform electrocardiograms. 
  • Maintain stock levels in exam rooms and medical assistant pods. 
  • Administer immunizations. 
  • Ensure personal mandatory Cornerstone and competencies are up to date. 
  • Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system.
  • Respond to general patient inquiries regarding treatment and clinic policies and procedures. 
  • Submit tickets to clinical engineering for the repair of clinic equipment. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. 

Required Qualifications*

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology. 

Medical Assistant Associate:

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience

Medical Assistant:

  • 0-1 years of relevant experience 
  • Some office experience

Desired Qualifications*

  • Additional formal education in a health care field.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular medications
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular and basic medical terminology
  • BLS prior to hire. 

Work Schedule

Base schedule is Monday - Friday, days 7:00am - 5:30pm - flexible start and end times.

Additional Information

General supervision is received from Administrative Manager, Medical Director or Nurse Manager.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires moderate standing/walking, as well as lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring of patients.

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
