Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Financial Analyst/Specialist with expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel to ensure the accuracy and integrity of in-house financial data.  The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in financial analysis, journal entries, and billing processes, demonstrating expertise in managing complex financial records and reporting.

This role involves developing and maintaining comprehensive financial reports, ensuring precise record-keeping, and providing critical support to the finance team across various accounting functions. The successful candidate will play a key role in optimizing financial processes, enhancing data accuracy, and contributing to informed decision-making within the organization.

This role reports to the Finance Accounting Manager within ITS.

Responsibilities*

  • Develop and maintain complex Excel spreadsheets for financial analysis and reporting.
  • Utilize advanced Excel features including, but not limited to, pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, macros, and complex formulas to perform data analysis.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Complete and review journal entries for accuracy and compliance with University policies and accounting standards.
  • Assist in maintaining the general ledger and reconciliations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of customer billings and vendor invoices.
  • Reconcile billing discrepancies and resolve billing issues with clients.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and financial analysis as requested.
     

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
  • Three to five years of progressive experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Proven experience with journal entries and financial reporting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as effectively in teams; must have the ability to work comfortably with individuals at all levels
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Working knowledge of Business Objects
  • Knowledge of University policies, processes, and requirements related to financial reporting.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT


Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance is required. Normal amount of sitting, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amounts of work at a computer.

 
SCHEDULE


This position is currently hybrid, working in the office on Thursdays and the other four days remote. A remote work agreement is required and will be reviewed and updated at least once every 12 months.
