Job Summary

We are adding a Social Worker position to Telling It's team. We are looking for candidates who want to work in a lively environment with a program that supports social emotional learning using creative nontraditional practices. You will provide the program site team with a trained perspective on the social emotional needs of the youth and participate in weekly Telling It sessions. You will counsel youth in distress and connect them with resources. You will report to the Lead Social Worker.

Who We Are

Telling It is a community-based expressive arts program that creates safe, judgment-free spaces using trauma-informed and culturally sensitive methods to foster emotional processing and personal empowerment. We partner with community sites in Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor to offer weekly programs for youth and adults. Telling It is a program in the LSA Residential College. Responsibilities*

  • Participate in weekly trauma-informed expressive arts-based sessions for youth at multiple program site
  • Assess session plans for social work best practices and social emotional learning.
  • Implement clinical interventions for youth in distress and link youth with community resources.
  • Participate in staff and intern training sessions.
     

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's Degree in social work.
  • 1+ years of experience in arts-based practices with youth.
  • Success working across race, ethnicity, socioeconomic background, sexual orientation, gender identity and ability.
  • Familiarity with office software.
     

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Additional Information

  • You will work 5-10 hours/week during the Telling It program year: September - June.
  • The salary is $20-25/hour.
  • This is an onsite position at Telling It program sites in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti.
  • This is a temporary position and is not eligible for benefits.
