Summary
The Department of Computational Medicine and Bioinformatics (DCMB, Medical School) and the Department of Environmental Health Sciences (EHS, School of Public Health) are seeking a bioinformatics post-doctoral fellow. This position will support innovative, cross-disciplinary multi-omics and data science research, especially in the areas of epigenomics and transcriptomics (including single cell and spatial) in response to environmental exposures, and will develop novel bioinformatics algorithms in these areas. The fellow will work jointly with Drs. Maureen Sartor (Professor of DCMB and Biostatistics) and Dana Dolinoy (Professor of Environmental Health Sciences and Nutritional Sciences), with partial funding from the NIEHS-funded Michigan Center on Lifestage Environmental Exposures and Disease (M-LEEaD). The specific research topics will be determined based on the expertise of the fellow and mutual interests of the fellow and mentors. Several publications as part of our team science efforts are expected. The position is expected to be over a 2-year period, with opportunities for extension or promotion. Previous post-doctoral fellows in this position have benefitted from career development opportunities, including being awarded a Center Scientist position in M-LEEaD, and have continued on to a K99/R00 grant and bioinformatics careers at Illumina Inc and Oxford University, UK.

Required Qualifications*
Ph.D. degree in bioinformatics, genomics, toxicology, environmental health sciences, or a related field. The successful applicant will have experience with high-throughput omics analysis, be comfortable working in linux and R, and have strong communication and interpersonal skills. Experience in environmental science, biostatistics, and/or epigenomics are preferred. Persons from underrepresented backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Salary will be determined based on years of experience and qualifications and will satisfy the NIH NRSA guidelines.
