Summary

The successful applicant will become an integral member of a large successful group studying various aspects of epithelial homeostasis and mucosal inflammation with a particular focus on inflammatory diseases of the intestine. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to perform experiments using a variety of state-of-the-art techniques involving cell biology, protein biochemistry, molecular biology, and in-vivo animal models. This position offers unique opportunities for ambitious individuals to interact with a diverse group including technicians, graduate students, post docs and faculty. This individual will help to supervise the mouse colony, and assist executing experiments under the supervision of the laboratory manager and principal investigators.

Responsibilities*

Management of transgenic mouse colonies, genotyping, molecular cell biology (cloning and plasmid production), protein/cellular biochemistry (western blot, immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence staining), maintaining databases and experimental records. Familiarity with basic laboratory instrumentation and maintenance of select laboratory equipment as well as record keeping is necessary. Other duties may be assigned by the faculty supervisor or manager.

Required Qualifications*

  • Minimum of a year experience in a research laboratory in basic molecular biology (PCR, gel electrophoresis, protein gel electrophoresis).
  • Preference will be given to candidates with proficiency in English, a strong work ethic, good computer skills as well as the abilities to work efficiently with multiple individuals and multitasking.
  • For the Intermediate level, a high school diploma or Associate?s degree and 1 to 2 years experience is required.
  • For the Associate level, a high school diploma or Associate?s degree and 1 year of experience is required.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Proficiency with word processing, power point and spreadsheet software programs are desired. 
  • Willingness to occasionally work unconventional hours to meet deadlines.
  • A minimum of two-year commitment.
  • Bachelor?s degree in a biological science area or equivalent.

Background Screening
