Summary

The Pediatric EEG Telemetry Monitor Attendant will monitor Long Term Monitoring (LTM)-EEG patient video and EEG recordings, to verify a safe environment for the patient, to recognize and note when patients have EEG events (seizures), and to maintain viable EEG recordings with properly operating EEG equipment and applied electrodes.

Responsibilities*

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities, with and after proper training:

  • Monitor LTM patients on video screen to monitor for a safe environment, patient presence on the video screen, and to recognize and note any seizures and/or unusual EEG or clinical activity.
  • Maintain proper EEG recordings and inform the EEG technologists of improperly functioning electrodes and malfunctioning EEG recording machines.
  • According to Epilepsy Laboratory seizure protocols, inform the EEG technologists on shift, and /or EEG-Epi Fellow and/or the Pediatric Neurology Staff Physician who is in-patient attending of seizure frequency and type.

Required Qualifications*

High School graduation with basic science coursework or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Some educational and/or work experience in a health care setting is highly desirable.
  • Education, training, or experience in EEG and clinical electro-neurophysiology is highly desirable.

Work Schedule

The EEG Lab operates on a 24-hour, 7-day work schedule; this is a night shift position and includes weekends. 

Background Screening
