Job Summary

The Consultation Service Client Service Representative's (CSR) primary responsibilities are to receive, accession, triage, deliver, and return outside case materials for the purpose of facilitating consultations referred from outside facilities and for patients transferring care to Michigan Medicine for continuation of care.  The Consultation Service CSR team also provides specimen processing support for the Department of Pathology NCRC laboratory logistics center (NLNC) including receipt, processing, tracking, and transport of anatomic and clinical laboratory specimens and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

In order to be considered for this position the applicant must have met or will have met all the required qualifications prior to the start date of employment.

  • High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant professional experience. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to Service Excellence.
  • Demonstrated good work habits, dependability, punctuality, flexibility, and attendance.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform timely and accurate data entry. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills along with the ability to take action while exhibiting good judgment and realistic understanding of issues.
  • Ability to communicate with others in a friendly and helpful manner while building credibility and rapport with customers and co-workers.
  • Physical Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, with frequent walking and standing required.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Experience and aptitude with a variety of computer software programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office products, MiChart, Soft, and email systems.
  • Previous experience in a laboratory environment working as a team to assist clients/customers/co-workers.

Work Schedule

This full time, 40 hour position is Monday - Friday, with occasional weekend and holiday rotation, hours vary with shift assignment.

Work Locations

Department of Pathology, MLabs, NCRC. This is an onsite position.

Additional Information

$1500.00 Signing bonus available.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
