Summary

This is a student summer internship position with Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum. This position will greet visitors, assist with retail operations and events and work with the Visitor Experience team. This position also serves as the primary point of contact for many of our over 500,000 annual visitors at both the Nichols Arboretum and Matthaei Botanical Gardens. The internship program runs May 6 through September 2, 2024 and includes evening and weekend hours.

Responsibilities*

  • Greet visitors, take phone calls and communicate information about our properties and programs
  • Assist with retail operations, plant sales, rentals, and special events. 

Required Qualifications*

  • Graduated high school and currently enrolled in a college/university by the internship start date of May 6, 2024, or a December 2023 or spring 2024 college or university graduate.
  • Must have a flexible schedule with weekend and evening availability.
  • Availability from early May through Labor Day

Additional Information

  • Four in-person internships available
  • Hours: 32 to 40 hours per week
  • Compensation: $15/hour.
  • Work Location: These positions will be based in Ann Arbor, MI at both Matthaei Botanical Gardens (1800 N. Dixboro Road) and Nichols Arboretum (1610 Washington Heights), though will serve predominantly at the Matthaei location.
